HERE IS HOW THE INTERVIEW STARTED:

ED- The Eerie Digest is proud to present Esteban “Steven” Escobar, The publisher of Diversity News to all of our readers. Steven, you have become a Media Partner of ours over the internet linking some of the best news throughout the Film Industry. How did you originally get started in this field of media?

ESE- Well, I started to show interest in design, entertainment field since high school. I created a bilingual (English & Spanish) publication named News/Noticias. I got contributors and it was distributed free in high school and via U.S. mail. Later joined the Yearbook Staff as people editor during my senior year at U.S. Grant High School. When I graduated in 1994 I enrolled in Los Angeles City College and selected my mayor as Journalism. While going to college I was still running News/Noticias was distributed all over Southern CA. Well it was time to get a job, so I walked to this employment agency where I saw in this conference room the word “Diversity” I did like the meaning and in 2003 I decided to create a new company with a new vision, mission and values and the is when Diversity News Publications was born. Why publications, well while I was in college I also was running The Colleague the was distributed in College only. So by creating Diversity News Publications I would not limit the company to one publication. So the goal is to run couple publications to serve and targeting specific market or group, not only here in CA, the plan is to go national and then international. Diversity News (Revista Diversidad), a print publication was born in 2003 and distributed free all over Southern CA, via U.S. mail to different states. Thanks to the technology Diversity News Magazine stopped printing and in 2007 I register DiversityNewsPublications.Com a company in Washington have already register Diversity News. The was a website with different pages, but I was not happy, so in 2009 I decided to take it to the high level and hire a webmaster who gave Diversity News Publications a complete makeover. As you may see DiversityNewsPublications.Com coverage have been the best because we cover events and we write about them and the is what event organizers/publicists wants.

ED- Tell us about your entertainment company, Diversity News Productions.

ESE- Well, when I register the company I decided to register all other divisions and yes Diversity News Productions was created around 2003 to present and the is to start promoting events for our selves and clients. Diversity News Publications have been hired as independent consultant and makes the necessary arrangements to run a smooth event in partnership with event organizers and promoters. Also to do videos for our company and clients as well and share them online or via DVD.

ED- What aspects of the film industry does Diversity News follow closely?
ChampionUSA.com
ESE- Diversity News it is a consumer news magazine. Our intentions is to try to give the best to our readers, because do not forget we are also consumers. I personally do not endorse a product or service if it is not worthy their money or would not benefit them. Our readers are very important for us, that is why we want to have an open communication for them to tell us, if they like what they see or read and what changes they want.
CompUSA Best Sellers
ED- How does it differ from other newscasts of this nature?
Wireless from AT&T
ESE- Newscast, well Diversity News is an online publication, thanks to the internet (Lol). But we are considering also taking Diversity News with our division Diversity News Productions to be air on radio and TV in the future.
CarsDirect.com
ED- Is there a certain audience that you target?

ESE- Oh yes, I think as publishers we must identify whom we are working and serving. Diversity News is targeting every one who it do not discriminate whom you are, your religion, sex, handicap, color. We are a publication the wants to be your friend, not trying to replace the bible but we want to be your friends for life and to tell other people about us.
FIJI Water Company
ED- You also run Diversity News Printing Services. Tell us about the agenda of this service.

ESE- Great question, Diversity News Printing Services is another division of the parent company Diversity News Publications and yes we do it once a while print flyers and business cards for customers. We have over 10 contracts with major printing companies all over the USA. Basically this division needs more concentration and the is something I need to focus. Diversity News Printing Services makes profit for us then any other division of the company.
Hanes.com
ED- We have been following your program on the net and noticed that you cover many charities and Red Carpet Events. Tell us of your involvement in these productions and the work that goes into it.

ESE- Honestly, I do not want to cover an event only because it is example: ABC birthday bash. Personally the event must be attached to a legit legal charity the will give back to the community. By covering charities events we feel we are giving back to the community. For your information since 2003 to present we created Diversity News#3960 or Team Diversity News#3960 for Aids Walk LA and we raise money the goes to Aids Project Los Angeles and other non profit organizations. We do events to raise money, we walk and I personally make donations towards the event. I can tell you the some charities founders are running organizations as their own business, but charities are public entities especially when you are asking the public for donations/money. Every time a charity wants me to cover or help on their event I check with the attorney general, secretary of state and registar office to see their status. I can share with you the some charities founders are pocketing the money and they are not distributing according to their purpose or mission. Even I can share with you the if you run a charity you can not have blood relatives working on it. I see all the times, but as long they do not take my money I would not say anything.
Hotel Assurance Banners Exp 12-31-10 (468x60)
ED- What other events do you target?

ESE- The events the we target are basically news worthy. It is very important to know whom is running it, the venue, parking, how we will get treated. You know the as writers we do not make a lot of money or nothing at all in covering events, but we help people in their career by featuring them or their events. If a promoter or publicist invites me to an event and I have to pay cover charge or parking I would not cover it. Our policy is the we do not accept gifts, food, money or drinks from publicists unless other media outlets are consuming it. Let me also say the if a publicist wants their client on our site to be feature we will charge a small fee because it is fair for the artist/talent that their money is been invested in the right way.
1800flowers.com (Martha Stewart)
ED- What other plans are forthcoming for your enterprise ?

ESE-  A new makeover for DiversityNewsPublications.Com, get our company name, services and products in many readers and fans. As I stated earlier creating the Broadcast radio and TV news show. Also to be the publicist for more corporate companies outhere. Dealing with talent/artists is a nightmare. So my experience working as publicist for corporate clients is the best.
Thrifty Rent-A-Car System, Inc.
ED- Where do you see Diversity News going five years from now ?

ESE-  Another great question. I just hope GOD can help me and the nothing bad can happen in my life. Been healthy is the main key and creating the right networking relationship with other media outlets, publicists and news makers and shakers. Also we want to continue writing our articles as much informative and be neutral at all times and as always write as a third person. We will create some controversy to get our readers attention and reactions. We follow The Associated Press Stylebook in our writings all the times.
Wal-Mart.com USA, LLC
ED- Steven, it has been a real pleasure to introduce you to all our readers. As our Media Partner on the West Coast, The Eerie Digest plans to work closely with you for many years to come and enjoy helping promote the Entertainment Industry with our reach around the world.

USA President Barack Obama Signed The Unemployment Insurance Extension

July 23, 2010 by Esteban "Steven" Escobar
Filed under Breaking News, Featured, News

President Barack Obama Signs Unemployment ExtensionAfter long battle with the Republicans vs the Democrats, the Senate and the House approved an extension of the Unemployment Assistance for two and a half million of Americans the lost their jobs due to the recession.

You know the Republicans did not wanted to approve this bill and the USA President with Democrats were fighting to help the American people.

On Thursday, July 22, 2010 the USA President Barack Obama Signed The Unemployment Insurance Extension Act the will last until November 2010.

Click here to Post A Job

Here is what  Jesse Lee of the White House posted on their online blog on July 22, 2010.
Yesterday, at long last the Senate passed an extension of unemployment insurance, not only the decent thing to do but one of the most effective ways to boost our economy, as Lawrence Summers, Chair of the National Economic Council, explained. The President has pressured the partisan minority holding it up relentlessly on behalf of those who desperately needed the helping hand, and applauded Congress for overcoming that obstruction in the statement below and today sign he signed the legislation in the Oval Office. This was the President’s statement:

“Today, I signed the unemployment insurance extension to restore desperately needed assistance to two and a half million Americans who lost their jobs in the recession. After a partisan minority used procedural tactics to block the authorization of this assistance three separate times over the past weeks, Americans who are fighting to find a good job and support their families will finally get the support they need to get back on their feet during these tough economic times. Now it’s time for Congress to act on more proposals that support our economic recovery, including passing critical aid to our states and support to small businesses. Small businesses are the engine of job growth, and measures to cut their taxes and make lending available should not be held hostage to partisan tactics like those that unconscionably held up unemployment insurance.”

The White House hope to seek another extension after this one is over. The Associated Press quoted Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif who said “Unemployment benefits protect those who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own but would lead to more jobs, higher wages and a stronger economy for all Americans.” She concluded “The money will be spent immediately on necessity, injecting demand into the economy, creating jobs.”

Turn 21 today!

In California almost half of million of people are unemployed and per EDD (Employment Development Department) website here is what they wrote:

On Thursday, July 22, 2010, President Obama signed federal legislation authorizing further access to federal unemployment extension benefits. States are now allowed to once again start filing federal unemployment extension claims. Since early June, more than 400,000 people in California have experienced a disruption in extension benefits. Until now, they were prevented from moving into any further tier of extension benefits after their current claim ran out.

This new legislation restores access to federal extension benefits retroactive to June 2, 2010, and extends that access through November 30, 2010. It does not provide any additional benefits to the current maximum of up to 99 weeks of unemployment benefits. Unemployed individuals may be eligible for assistance to meet basic needs as well as other services such as health care, counseling, employment and training assistance. Read the Assistance for Unemployed California Residentsflyer for more information.

EDD stands ready to respond quickly to the reauthorization of extension benefits. Staff will be working through the weekend to expedite processing of retroactive benefits.

Impact for FED-ED Extension Customers
About 145,000 of our customers affected are those who were collecting on the separate extension called the FED-ED extension in California, but could not continue because under the previous law the FED-ED program ended.

EDD has been advising these customers to continue submitting completed continued claim forms in the event Congress took further action on the extensions. For those who have done so, EDD should be able to start mailing checks to eligible claimants by next week.
For those who have not submitted claim forms, EDD will be issuing forms next week so eligible claimants can certify for further FED-ED benefits. Once a properly completed claim form is received, payment can be issued for eligible customers within just a few days.
Retroactive benefits can not be paid in one lump sum, but rather in two-week increments. Checks will be issued in succession dating back to periods of eligibility from June 13, 2010, forward for each week a properly completed claim form is received.
Impact for all Other Affected Customers
The Department has been maintaining a list of the remaining 255,000 of our affected customers. These are customers who ran out of either a regular UI claim or one of the four tiers of federal extension claims over the last several weeks. Some of these claimants have already received claim forms in the event Congress took further action. EDD will automatically file the next level of extension claim for the remainder of these customers who meet the eligibility criteria for extended benefit claims. There is no need to contact the Department at this time. Staff will be working throughout the weekend so claim forms can be mailed to eligible individuals next week.

Once customers complete and mail back the first claim form, they can expect to receive further claim forms in rapid succession over the next few weeks to complete quickly and send back to EDD. The Department will issue checks for eligible weeks of unemployment until we are caught up on all retroactive weeks of benefits on these claims.
Retroactive benefits can not be paid in one lump sum, but rather in two-week increments. As soon as each properly completed claim form is received EDD should be able to process payment within just a few days for all eligible claimants who have remained unemployed and able, available and looking for work.
Any unemployment customer who was not affected by the temporary lapse in extension benefits should now be able to avoid any future disruption in extension benefits until the new filing deadline of November 30, 2010. The EDD will resume automatically filing the next level of extension claim for any customer who runs out of their regular state unemployment benefits or one of the four tiers of extension benefits. Continuing benefits will always be dependent on continuing to meet all UI eligibility requirements.
No Impact for Customers who have Run Out of Maximum Benefits
The new federal legislation does not have an effect on the more than 150,000 individuals in California who have already run out of the maximum amount of extension benefits available. That maximum remains up to 99 weeks of benefits. At this time, Congress is not considering adding any more weeks of benefits to the federal extension program.

Other Aspects of New Federal Legislation
While the newly approved legislation restores access to federal extension benefits, the new bill does not continue the subsidy for COBRA health coverage.
It also does not allow for the $25 federal stimulus payment added to each week of unemployment benefits for any new regular claim filed after May 23, 2010. For any existing claims already receiving the extra $25 payments, those payments can continue until the customer runs out of benefits or until the week-ending December 11, 2010, whichever comes first.
Wal-Mart.com USA, LLC
In another note from EDD (California’s Employment Development Department), they announced in a press release on June 2, 2010 the they have selected Bank of America to Initiate Electronic Benefit Payments benefits in California for state unemployment, disability, and paid family leave effective September 2010.

Editor’s Note: We have keeping an eye on this issue and watching the “Republicans” how they only care about them and do not care about the American people. A least the “Democrats” are more humans and they give back to community by helping and delivering their political promess. Next time when a “Republican” is asking you to vote for them, please take a minute to think TWISE because they only want power and money and your vote will help them get them but they will forget about you. Also you know the EDD staff will try to avoid for all you to get help, please ask to speak with the Director of EDD and feel free to use media outlets for unfair treatment. July 18, 2010 by Esteban "Steven" Escobar

Shine On 2 Hollywood Music Showcase "Artits Meet The Industry"The hot heat did not stop people from coming to the hottest event of the summer, “Shine On 2.”

Shine On 2 Hollywood: A Music Showcase;”Artists Meet The Industry” Benefiting Hope 4 Children was held on July 15, 2010 from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the Celebrity Center in Hollywood, CA.

“Arnold G is extremely passionate about his business and, seems quite sincere in helping seasoned talent reach new heights in their careers! The powerful cast of music and film industry professionals assembled for SHINE ON 2 will certainly help set the stage for some powerful breakthrough moments!” said Pixie Monroe, Casting Director Film and Television.

The guests started to arrive 2 hours before the show and lined up to check in and get escorted to the seating area. Media/press and photographers arrived at the same time, they signed in, got their media badges, and were escorted to their assigned areas to start taking photos of the VIP’s, artists, panelists and event production team.

“I have tremendous respect for Shine On Host, Gary Spears: As a host, performer, radio personality and long-time friend. Gary’s been a dedicated friend and has served as the co-host on one of my passion projects, a radio podcast entitled; “Casting Hope” for the past several years. He’s also been cast in numerous film and television projects since leaving mainstream radio and definitely always displays a high level of energy, humor and professionalism in his works”. Ms. Monroe concluded.
Arnold G’s dancers opened the show, then host Gary Spears welcomed everyone to the event before he introduced the panelists. He showed Arnold G’s Shine On 2 message video, then he introduced the industry panelists Alex Cortez (AYRE Entertainment, Warner Brothers), Kevin McDowell (AEG & AEG Live), Allan Rich (Academy awardee, Grammy/Golden Globe nominee, music writer), Tony Sweet (radio personality at On Air With Tony Sweet, LA Talk Radio), Michael Kelly (record producer, Universal Music), Javelyn Jav (music producer, X-It Rite Records), Robby Martinez (musician, conductor, composer and performer), Asha Puthli (legendary Jazz & Soul singer & former recording artist for record labels EMI, CBS, Sony and RCA) and Arnold G (Recording artist, founder of Shine On, Bring It On, A&G Records & A&G Entertainment Productions). “I loved the event. It was two times better than Shine On 1 and if you always have an event like that one, it will be one of the best showcases ever. I was never bored. All the acts were great.” said Buddy Sampson, Publisher, The Scoop LA Newspaper.  He continue “Gary Spears was excellent! He added a professional dimension to the show, like Dick Clark. Bring him back. Shine On 2 It was awesome.” The first artists introduced by host Gary Spears to Shine On in front of the panelists were Kasey Iaeger who sang (Givin’ Up On You and Can’t Give Into This), and then Zedakiah Koterba who sang (Eye Of The Tiger and You’ve Get A Friend). Brooke Williams sang (I’m Back and Turns My Mind), American boy Justin Chase performed and sang (Fireplace, Finally and Don’t Give Up), and Sail by the Stars who came from Florida sang (I Wish I May, Icebergs Are For Penguins and If My Room Were a Rocketship). “I had an amazing time hosting Shine On 2. It was my first time hosting since leaving radio 3 years ago, so I had to wear diapers! LOL=laugh out loud. Seriously, this is a wonderful grass roots event that has legs so look for more in the future!” said Radio Personality, host & actor.  He added “If given the opportunity, I would host a garage sale but yes to Shine On 3! And Bring It On!” An intermission of 10 minutes was held and then Shine On 2 host Gary Spears welcomed everyone back and introduced the only Asian American to perform, Michael Walker, who sang (Cooler Than Me and We Can Do It). American Dreamz The Movie actress and singer Jael Gadsden took the stage and she sang (Drink the Water and All I need). Jarid Williams performed and sang the song requested by his fans(Can We Talk, Birthday song for the mother of one of his fans, and For All We Know); Latonius Earl returned by popular demand and he sang (Mya Song and So High); George Hodos sang (This is Love and Just A Man), and the last artist who blew the stage with her choreography and dancers was KingQueen who sang (U Make Me (LOL) and Man’s World. After each artist performed, host Gary Spears asked them some questions about their music. macys.com 07/25/2010 “I Loved the stage, loved the lightning. Everything went smooth and fast. Everyone that I met that worked on “the set” was very professional and knew what every ones name was, which means they took their time to know who is playing their venue. Also liked the fact that there was constant communication going on almost every day before the actual gig which took away a lot of stress.” said KingQueen, artist. She added “I liked every venue I have performed at. People have always been very humble to me so I don’t have a favorite place because I love every venue I play since it’s my life, it’s what I love. But my two favorites were Avalon and the one at the Celebrity Centre with Shine On 2, mostly because of the size of the stage and the sound system!” She continue “Absolutely, I saw artists I would have never seen before if it wasn’t for Shine On 2, which made me realize I have to step up even more because there is some great talent out there. And in the end of the day, watching other artists as a artist is to enjoy, watch, learn and go to improve yourself.” “The losers get fed to the crocodiles! I like to think of a host as one who is more background that forefront….remember it’s all about the talent! I’d like to see the one who gets the best score be given his/her/their concert at a local venue with industry types invited. These kids work their butts off and deserve to be heard!” concluded Mr. Spears. Per A&G Entertainment Productions, the event was sold out and there were more than 400 guests that came to support their favorite artist. Gary Spears introduced The Dance Diva that closed the show and this was Cynthia Manley. With her electric energy she performed her new single “Give” and she brought on stage all the artists including event executive producer Arnold G and non profit organization Hope 4 Children beneficiary Grace Walker. Host Gary Spears again thanked the panelists and mentioned that the Shine On 2 score sheet will be available in one week. He went ahead and thanked event supporters, Gabriel Escamilla (fashion designer) & Parris Harris (stage manager and fashion coordinator). He also thanked the venue Celebrity Center and Hope 4 Children founder Grace Walker. “It’s worthy showcase because you as a artist want to (should want to) perform everywhere from a small bar to a huge charity event.. If this is what you love then of course it’s worth there. A showcase reaches out to people that normally wouldn’t go to a club to see you perform because it’s too late, or not their thing. It’s a great way to expand your fan base.” Concluded KingQueen. Some of the talent and VIPs that attended the event were Vairon Perez, Janet Luna, Coreen Troche, Beatriz Vasquez, Ryan Ray, Alex Varden, David Harrison Levi, Dr. John Carvalho, Emily Morrow, Salvador Corona, Patrice Ryan, Monet Lu, Tom Emberson, Maria Amor, Nikki Gill, Pixie Monroe, Robin Sargent, Sonny Madera, Irene Soderberg, Dan Norris, Marco Tricca, Yari Paris, Tina Nguyen, Joseph Quinto and Stella Gomez. “I love performing I’m very comfortable doing it! I had an absolute great time performing amongst so many talented artists.” said Latonius J. Earl, Artists.  He continue “The quality of performers definitely changed for the better. Everyone was on top of their game. As far as doing anything different, Nothing, except changed my outfit. I just ask God for direction and I go with the flow.” Napster, LLC About Shine On: This is a unique grassroots music showcase, that is not your typical venue. It is specifically designed for the unsigned indie artist, band and musician with two stages where the best local unsigned indie artists are able to showcase their talents in the Hip Hop, R&B, Urban, Rock and Dance categories, in front of conference attendees and a panel of music industry experts to gain maximum exposure at a minimal cost. For more information visit http://www.agentertainmentproductions.com Wal-Mart.com USA, LLC “I actually believe this event changed my life. I went in with the mindset that things will be different after this and surely when it was all over I noticed that Latonius as a person/ entertainer was different. I’ll never be the same. Shine On is definitely Worthy!” Mr. Earl concluded. Editor’s Note: The only bad thing at the event was parking. Now that the City of Los Angeles is desperate for revenue, they are charging to park at the 2 hour meters from 6pm to 8pm. To make it worse, you need a parking permit to park or you get a ticket in the City of Sherman Oaks by the hill side .
